little sutton bakehouse.

So this is the start of me trying to get the blog idea up and running for like the 4th time? This time I’m going to try doing something less time intense as I always find I put pressure on myself to write something really in depth. So the posts will be short, sweet and hopefully full of flavour… Hehe 😋

Little Sutton Bakehouse was not what I expected! I pictured a little hole in the wall but it was decent size. It was much busier than I thought but there was plenty of space with a lovely deck/outdoor space. I went in thinking I’d get a pie but ended up with a quiche, double smoked ham, cheese and balsamic onion, after seeing them up close. I also got a Nutella croffin and a pear and almond tart. Lastly, I had to go back and get a fresh squeezed orange juice.

Everything was pretty good, the quiche had really good flavour and the texture was pretty smooth, rather than firm. That’s how I prefer my eggs so I was happy. The croffin was alright, solid but nothing special. I do feel like Nutella is over done sometimes, they had some interesting flavour combos so I was left craving like an almond croissant take on the croffin or just something different. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and not too bad but I felt it didn’t justify the price point. Overall the highlight was the pear and almond tart. It wasn’t too sweet, it also had good texture from both the almonds and the pastry. The pastry in particular was almost caramelised on the base and just really scrumptious.

I will be back if only to try a lemon tart that wasn’t there today. That also have some local markets on every second Sunday which I think would great to tie into a little half day trip out to Sutton for a great morning.
